Some garden sites are out-of-reach and out-of-sight… perfect for our more shy native birds such as grey catbirds, chickadees, titmice and finches.

Aviation High School’s hidden bird sanctuary hosts insects, berries and seeds, food for small migratory and residential birds. The elevated fenced site is also home to native plants that provide twigs, moss, dried grasses, spider webs, and other bits of nest-building materials. Our plant list: multi-stemmed dogwood trees, large serviceberries, Oregon grape, blueberries, Pyracantha (firethorn), beautyberry, reed grass, and Prairie Sky switchgrass.
